I discovered this game about a year ago and never stop watching the progress. It is finally finished, ready to be released! YEAH!

It is called Eschalon Book I made by Basilisk Games, a small Indie company.

It will be released next week, on November 19th, please, if you want it,*don't pirate it, buy it, support the poor indie scene.

Now that is very nice - Not much of an RPG'er myself but it looks great.

Is it PC or Pocket PC? or both?

I do agree, if its that good then it deserves to be bought.

Maybe as a homage, someone can create a PPL equivalent in ISO mode! lol (That would be good, and then include tutorials on how it was accomplished)

It is for PC, Mac and Linux I believe. No PocketPC unfortunately.

That looks very cool! It does look a lot like the old Ultima games. I will have to give it a try after the Thanksgiving holiday. Thanks for the tip.

If you want even more old-school goodness, check out the games over at Spiderweb Software ("http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com/"). I never personally got into the Avernum series, but the Geneforge stuff is really cool. Graphics could use just a bit of a tweak in my opinion, but gameplay is top notch, and I love the fact that you can cast helper creatures.

The game is out, check it out, there is a demo too. http://basiliskgames.com/

So far, I love it, it is a little hard, I hope to get better with time. :)

This game rocks, but it's definitely not for the impatient.* So far I've had to reload my initial save game several times, and I'm not even out of the first area yet.* My biggest problem is that I geared my initial selections too much towards a spell caster, so I have no weapons skills or lockpicking skills at all.* That's proving to be quite detrimental early on.* Add to that the fact that healing and mana potions are initially hard to come by, and it makes it quite difficult to survive early on.

That's okay, though, because the graphics are so cool and the layout of the game reminds me so much of all the old games I used to play that I'm willing to perservere.* Maybe one of these days I'll actually get good at it!* Either way, I'm definitely going to be buying it this weekend.

Yes, indeed, I find it really hard too. I reload so often it is not funny anymore. Experience points are hard to accumulate too. You have to finish quests to really get some good experience points but in order to finish them you have to fight hordes of monsters.

Even if I might not be able to finish it, I still believe that $28 was a good investment to encourage this guy and to see a sequel, maybe he will realize his dreams and write games for a living.

He needs to be encouraged to convert this to PPL and make a PPC version! :)

Then you can take it with you and continue your quests, or at least keep practicing whilst on the move.

Eric, I restarted the game with a Figther (Paladin) with Heavy Armor, Swords, LockPicks, Cartography skills and boy it is a lot easier and it is very very fun now. I still have to reload at times but a lot less often now.

I have managed to go further than I was in the game in 1/3 of the time I spent with my Ranger character.

I am level 5 and I sword swing I generally kill the small salamanders, the noxic salamanders takes a couple more shots but at least I don't get poisonned like before. I put all my points in Strenght, Dexterity and Speed.

I really enjoy the game now!

I haven't had a chance to get back to the game yet, but I think when I do I'll probably restart it as well.* I don't think I'm going to change my character type, but I will change the skills I picked just a little bit.* I'm glad you're enjoying it so much now.* I've always liked this style of RPG, and I really want to be able to get into this one.
