Are there known problems with PPL installation under Vista. Install shield reports 'unable to save file' to certain directories, and quite right they donīt exist. I have a Swedish version of Vista and maybe the installer is hard coded what directories to expect?

I've tried some ways to get around the problem, it seems that Vista maps directories in some way ie Program Files to Program (as it is named in Swedish version). But the InstallShield seems to go around this mapping at some stage so when looking for Program Files it's not present. On the other hand it's not possible to create a directory 'Program Files' because Vista maps it to Program as it show up in Explorer.
Anyhow, the workaround was to create a Program Files map on D: and install there. Iīm on the track again.

Hi Danaxe,
I have also Vista Ultimate and originally I had the same problem, but PPL works perfectly well with Windows Vista, if you do a few Vista specific steps:
When you install PPL, don't install it normally with a double click on the setup file, but click with the right mouse button on the file to get the context menu and in the context menu you select the option "execute as administrator" (might be called slightly different - I have not an English version of Vista). Now you get a proper installation.
However when you run PPL you will still get the same problem you had before. To solve this, you click with the right mouse button on the PIDE-icon you should have on your desktop. In the context menu, you select properties and in the following dialog you select the compatibility tab. The last line on this tab is "execute program as administrator". Check the box infront of it and click the "OK" button to leave the dialog. Now PPL will run without any problems on your machine. The only difference to other programs is, that you have to confirm at each start, that the program will be executed as administrator.
If you need further help, just let me know.

Hi tigerz,
unfortunately Isomehow couldn't manage to get the cab-file (Vista seems to handle it somehow different then the older windows, at least it seems to hide the cab file better). Have you tried to connect your PocketPC to your desktop and then install PPL as administrator? I don'thave my PPC here at the moment, but it seemed, that he would have installed it this way, if I had connected the PPC.
Regarding your second question: if you already know how to convert normal PPC-exe files to cab installation files, it should be no problem to convert the PPL exe files in the same way (maybe I didn't fully understand your question). Somewhere there is also a thread about how to do it in detail, but unfortunately I couldn't find it now. If I remember correctly you have to include a special font and of course all your images and music files. If you have a lot of additional resources, I would suggest that you use the PPL packages, so that you have only to include the exe and the package file in your cab installation.

Hi tigerz,
I have know the cab file, but unfortunately I can not attach it, since the forum accepts only files up to 4 MB and when I tried to send it to your e-mail address (the one you mentioned in the support forum), I got the reply, that my e-mail provider doesn't allow such big attachments :-(
Maybe Alain could put the PPC cab-file in the download section?

Check the folder where the PIDE is installed on your computer. You should find a .cab file there. Use it to install PPL on your device.
