View Full Version : What's missing from the Mobile area.
Was discussing this at work today and thought I'd ask on here.
What do you think is generally missing from the Windows Mobile scene for people to be generally flocking over to the iPhone?
Is it the fact that the iPhone is a more 'sleeker and sexier' device, the multi-touch screen, AppStore, better graphics than our WMP counterparts?
Any thoughts on what is needed to bring people back or has the battle been won and the Windows Mobile Phone has lost it's crown status?

I think that this lack of userbase is now being addressed.
The BBC reported this morning; http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7892863.stm
Microsoft and Nokia are now offering their version of APPStore :)
Newer Windows Mobile devices have motion sensing and multitouch too I'm sure.
Its probably because of the quality of the apps on the IPhone - Microsoft have been very slack in pushing the WM technology - Probably too complacent I guess.
Personally, I have seen the iPhone (My bro' has one) and it does nothing more than my HTC Prophet (Except multi touch and motion sensing) - Im sure if I had a newer WM device with motion sense and multi touch, I would find no difference.
There are now WM6 devices appearing from China that look exactly like the iPhone. Whether these have multi-touch screen is unknown, but I do know that currently the WM versions do not have motion sensing (where as the non WM versions do)
Newer WM mobiles now have CPU's with speeds up to 1Ghz and 3D gfx hardware built in, so this may, in the future, increase WM device sales????
I suppose it all depends on how desperate MS are to get WM6.5 out to the public???
(Just my 2 pennies worth)
Mike.

in my point of view apple just targets another type of users than microsoft.
apple user loves that style, they want it the easy and quick way, play a short game or do a quick web surf without any deeper knowledge of matter. therefore they don't need the freedom and wide spreaded options found in winmo.
that's also the reason why iphones won't be full adequate for stern uses (office, datebook) or technic enthusiasts like us.
and now guess which user group is bigger :D
when windows phone will catch up iphone in simplicity (and style) it will be the favorite again :)
