Hello,
Windows 7 Ultimate, everything running perfectly on the system.
I have tried 2.2 demo, installed OK but on run I get...
Error: Access violation at 0x0048395B (tried to read from 0x00000000), program terminated.
Any clues please?

All I get is a message box with that message, nothing else.
As soon as I attempt to run from the start menu, I get that message.
If there is something I can do to obtain more info please tell me how.
Ah! I have just looked again and the icon has changed on the start menu, it now says Cleverupdate.
Upon running I get a dialog with clever update and also PPL 2 Base edition and an error in the bottom box that says cannot connect to server.
I am on the internet.

have you already tried to run PPL in administrator mode?

CleverUpdate should not be part of the demo. Could be coming from an earlier version of beta or old demo.
Please uninstall everything ppl 2 related. Next empty all folders in my documents and program files that are related to ppl and cleverupdate.
Install the demo.
Let us know thanks.

@Nicknack, thanks, but no I didn't. Also having read Kornalius' email, I suspect there may be more wrong, so I am following that first.
@Kornalius, I downloaded the demo from the email sent.
It is the first time of trying so I did not have anything on the system except my registered version of PPL 1.53 Pro.
I got a desktop icon PPL IDE 2. It installed Demo in the correct folder. Shortly after I ran PPL2 from the start menu as described above, I got the error.
The next time I looked at the start menu I could not find PPL2 but found this cleverupdate so ran it. It must be in the demo file because that is the only file I have (PPL2Demo.exe).
It showed three items, clever update, PPL2 Basic and PPL2 demo. I could not place a tick under Demo, it kept disappearing but I could put a tick under the other two. I believe it attempted to install the PPL2 base because it wanted a serial.
I am now uninstalling as directed and it is taking for ever. Right that done it would not let me wipe the folder because of access to the Icons folder.
It will not let me change anything about that folder as Administrator.
I will now reinstall. I do have Windows Mobile Device centre.
I am told that Application Manager can only run when a device is connected and I am pressing OK.
Error 1303. The installer has insufficient privileges to access the Icons directory. (The one I cannot delete). I am the Administrator.
I am only able to cancel.
I await further input please. (Damn Windows 7 and its security)!
[EDIT] I managed after restart to erase the Icons folder and the PPL folder.
Did a reinstall and all went smoothly until trying to run it. Same error.
Ran as Administrator, same problem.
Ran in XP compatibility mode, same error. No other program is playing up.
[Edit 2] Clever update is installed

Hi Donone,
PPL 2 Base should not appear in CleverUpdate, it is not part of the demo files. So I suspect something else has been installed. Anyway, that is not the issue right now, we need to get you up and running.
We do development on Windows 7 Ultimate here, so I don't think that is the problem. I am looking into the demo source code to see what could cause this.
Please send us a screenshot when the error happens, to support@arianesoft.ca

Hello again kornalius.
I have sent you images of the error plus the cleverupdate dialog showing three items.
