Clicking Clear when an event is highlighted

What's supposed to happen if I highlight an event, right click and select Clear? I would have figured that it would have cleared that event, but instead it actually deletes the corresponding object. If that's what it's supposed to do that's okay, but then how do I get rid of an event?

Clear deletes the component, try 'Clear Code' instead. You can right click on the component.

Will Clear Code remove all of the code related to that component? What I'd like to be able to do is just remove the code for one event.
