Hi, I tried to buy PPL the other day. It did not work. This is what "eSellerate" gave back as an error message:

*PayPal is unable to perform a withdrawal from your bank account for this transaction. To proceed, you can either change your PayPal funding
source, or pay with a credit card. The list of supported credit cards
appears on the Shopping Cart page.*

After contacting PayPal Germany about this matter they wrote back and told me I should contact the seller (that's you guys!) and enquire the following: If you, by any chance, excluded payments made by direct debit of a bank account and only allowed payments by credit card (all via PayPal!)

Any idea about that?

(short explanation: I did not give PayPal any credit card number, they do a direct debit of/to/from my bank account instead, this has never been a problem so far)

Hm... I heard something when paypal took some money which it shouldn't when someone used dd.

... wich was not quite the question here, but is no prob: I would simply go to my bank and will get back my money (if I do so within 14 days of this "wrong" debit)

Zehlein:

Here is the answer I got from eSellerate.

Hello Alain:

This is a known issue, but it is actually on the PayPal side, rather
than on our system. (I'm not sure why the person your customer
contacted at PayPal was unaware of this, but it has indeed been
acknowledged as a PayPal bug by their direct contacts for our
engineering team.) Our understanding from PayPal is that it can affect
customers that fund their PayPal account with accounts from certain
German banks, and for those customers, they may not be able to use the
"Express Checkout" option, which is how our system interacts with
PayPal. It should only be a problem when the customer doesn't already
have a balance in their PayPal account that is sufficient to cover the
amount of the order, so the workaround is to first have the customer
transfer the necessary money from their bank to PayPal before attempting
the eSellerate purchase, rather than relying on an automatic transfer at
the time of the purchase. Furthermore, it unfortunately sounds like
some customers may also need to wait a couple days between the time that
they transfer the money to PayPal and the time that they attempt the
eSellerate purchase. PayPal has indicated to us that they are working
on a fix for this problem, but we do not yet have any firm release date
from them for such a fix. Meanwhile, the only solutions are either to
use the workaround described above, which may possibly require the delay
of two or three days, or to instead use a credit card for the eSellerate
purchase. I hope this helps to clarify the situation, and we apologize
for any inconvenience.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,
Lauri Reinhardt

I got another message, if you want to go further please send me your email address at support@arianesoft.ca

Hello again Alain:

We would like to follow up with PayPal about the incorrect information
being offered to German customers who encounter this bug. Would it be
possible for you to share the email address of the customer who wrote to
you? This was we can steer our PayPal representative in the right
direction on who to contact in their Germany office.

Thanks in advance for the additional information.

Sincerely,
Lauri

kornalius, the workaround did not work, esallerate shows up with the same error considering paypal. Any ideas on the subject? (I don't give away credit card data over the net so that is no option for me)

I never heard back from them. I will ask them again, hopefully they will get back to me.
